As a senior engineer, Ashley is a source of valuable knowledge within the engineering team. He leads teams of other Engineers to ensure the network stays in perfect working order.
Have you worked at Jersey Electricity since you left full-time education?
Nearly, I came back from university and temped for a bit in different industries including Jersey Telecom (Accounts Department).
What was your first role at Jersey Electricity?
Whilst temping, a position for a CAD technician came up at JEBS. I was interviewed and given the job.
What made you go for that role?
I had studied CAD and CAM at university and this was the perfect job for me at the time.
How have your skills developed during your time with Jersey Electricity?
Jersey Electricity has helped me with my CAD, they trained me into a Building Services Engineer and now into a Senior Authorised Construction Engineer.
How has Jersey Electricity supported your career decisions?
By supporting my decision to leave the company to go travelling indefinitely as well as welcoming me back when I realised Jersey is a wonderful place to live and work.
Finally, what advice would you give someone just starting out in their chosen career?
Make sure you choose a career that interests you and that you find exciting. You are going to be doing it for the rest of your life so you may as well enjoy it as well as get paid for it!
