Emily has worked for Thames Water for 12 years in a variety of roles including copywriting and working for a Marine conservation society. She enjoys being challenged and the flexibility that Thames Water can offer her.
What do you do and where do you do it?
I work as a Project Engineer for Thames Valley Maintenance Projects specifically working on the growth and quality project.
What does an average day consist of?
My day to day job includes installing new assists, refurbishing and maintaining existing assets at a STW. As a Project Engineer, I am required to quote the cost of the job, design the plan to carry out the required work, liaise with the Operations teams to ensure their needs are being met, delivering the assets to contractors, commission them and then hand back over to Operations.
What attracted you to join the energy and utilities sector?
I have worked for Thames Water for 12 years in a variety of roles. I enjoy the end to end process of working as a Project Engineer as it incorporates the technical aspect along with Project Management.
Thames Water offers me the flexibility to work around in various roles. I enjoy being challenged and I really believe in what the company does. This has also given me the opportunity to speak within schools about the importance of Water and Wastewater.
Would you recommend your job to a friend and why?
I lived on the Isle of Man and my husband got a job working at Thames Water. This gave me exposure to Thames Water and I believed it was a great company to work for.
